My Story
Desireé Robertson, M.A., is a visionary sociologist, wellness entrepreneur, and learning designer whose work bridges storytelling, community healing, and systems change. As the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of GOC COLLECTIVE INC, she leads a movement dedicated to the healing and leadership of Black and Brown women and girls through connection, cultural care, and narrative transformation. With more than 20 years of experience in mentoring, curriculum design, and facilitation, Desireé has trained thousands of educators and community leaders across the U.S. and internationally. Her approach integrates trauma-informed practice, ancestral wisdom, and experiential learning to build spaces where women and girls can thrive.
Beyond GOC, Desireé is also the Founder and CEO of Sol to Root Wellness LLC, a training, wellness and retreat company that curates immersive healing experiences from Florida to Costa Rica and trains practitioners to build or enhance mentoring programs. A doctoral candidate in Applied Learning Sciences at the University of Miami, she brings both academic rigor and lived experience to her work—crafting initiatives that center belonging, story, and transformation.
Because everyone has a "Why"
I founded GOC COLLECTIVE INC because I wanted to build the kind of ecosystem I wish existed when I was a girl—a space where women and girls of color can root, rise, and be seen in their wholeness. My daughter, Jaclyn, was my first inspiration. When she was seven years old and a Girls Inc. girl, I created my first mentoring program from the ground up so she—and girls like her—could see their brilliance mirrored back to them. Watching her become a confident, creative woman affirms what I’ve always believed: that storytelling, connection, and healing can transform pain into power and isolation into community. GOC COLLECTIVE INC is my offering of love and leadership to the next generation—proof that when we lead from our stories, we change the narrative for us all.
